MYOB Software Subscriptions
Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel. Cancellation must be in writing and come from the primary contact. We require at least 15 days’ notice of cancellation and cancellation will take effect from the end of the current month.
Subscription Terms
Payment:
Fees are generally paid in advance (either monthly/6-monthly/yearly) via Credit Card, Bank Transfer or Automatic Payment, with specific dates on invoices.
Data Responsibility:
You, the user, are fully responsible for your data's accuracy, backup, security, and compliance with laws like tax and employment, even with a subscription, meaning MYOB provides the software but you own and manage your business data; you must extract data upon termination, as MYOB isn't liable for data loss. Regular local backups are crucial (AccountRight only).
Usage Rights:
You can't rent or lend the software; you get a licence to use it. MYOB subscription usage rights in NZ mean you can use the software for your business, share access with advisors (accountants/bookkeepers/MYOB Consultants) at no extra cost, control their permissions, and are responsible for all user actions; however, sharing with clients (unless in a specific Partner Program context) or sharing company files outside your practice is generally prohibited, with specific terms depending on the product (AccountRight, MYOB Business) and your user count/plan level.
Termination:
Accounting Training Ltd (trading as AccountAgility) can terminate your subscription with 10 days' notice if fees remain unpaid after 60 days. Subscription termination involves ceasing use, data extraction during a limited period, and potential loss of access after that time, with specific rules for AccountRight allowing continued local data access for a small monthly fee (read-only if no license). Key conditions include clearing outstanding subscription payments, contacting Accounting Training Ltd (often by phone or email) and potentially needing to be the primary contact to cancel. Always export necessary data before cancelling, as access is temporary after termination.
Data Extraction:
On termination, you must extract all your data promptly. MYOB's data extraction terms in NZ (and AU) focus on user responsibility to export data within a limited "Data Extraction Period" (around 30 days for MYOB Business) after subscription cancellation, using standard formats like CSV/TXT for portability, with access restricted post-period; you're expected to use built-in export features to retrieve your data before it's gone, as outlined in MYOB Business Terms of Use.
